The 2001 harvest was about two weeks later than usual yielding a little extra hang-time, gently increasing the concentration and flavor. Separate and individual varietal lots were blended and bottled, resulting in a blend of Touriga, Tinta Madeira, Tinta Cão and Souzão. Complex and enticing aromas of dried apricot, vanilla, honey and hints of anise leap out of the glass. Enjoy flavors of dark brown sugar and spiced toffee. Extended barrel age refines the full and soft Touriga, leading into a lingering, warm finish. The Tinta Madeira and Tinta Cão contribute additional softness and complexity, which just begs for another sip.
