Ficklin Vineyards is home to a solera system comprised
of 323 barrels with a capacity of over 23,000
gallons. Our Old Vine Tinta Port is bottled from this unique fractional blending system. It took a few years, beginning with the first harvest on 1948, to fill the solera, but it has never been emptied. Every barrel and puncheon, and every bottle of the Old Vine Tinta Port has a diminishing percentage of the original 1948 harvest, and every subsequent harvest. It is truly a living history of the wines made at Ficklin.
