1957 Vintage Port
Rare and collectible, our oldest remaining Vintage is comprised of 100% Tinta Madeira varietal, including the pot-stilled brandy. Flavorful and silky, pick up flavors of light toffee and hints of complex lingering spice and subtle fruit. The last Port still available that was made by founding winemaker, David Ficklin, Sr.
In the fall of 1957, selected clusters of Tinta Madeira grapes were carefully hand-picked in our estate vineyards. At the winery these grapes, which showed early promise for an outstanding vintage, were crushed and fermented by winery founder and winemaker David Ficklin using time honored traditional Portuguese methods. The character and fullness are enhanced by the exclusive use of a special pot-still brandy, made entirely from the same Tinta Madeira grapes. This 1957 Vintage Port shows splendid maturity and graceful elegance. Only a few precious bottles of this wine remain in the winery library.
