April 3, 2004
This sixth package contains
three small lot, single varietal, vintage ports produced exclusively for PORTfolio Society members. Harvested in 2001, the grapes
for these wines came from Lagle Family Vineyards, a small Portuguese varietal vineyard in Upper Lake, California owned by the Lagle Family. Bottled in March 2004, these wines embody the youth and structure of vintage ports, and show true varietal character for you to compare and contrast. They may be enjoyed now, or laid down for several decades while they soften and mature.
2001 Tinta Cao Port:
The aroma displays layers of black coffee, ripe cherry, and nuances
of violet. The mouth reveals berries and fruit in the upper palette, with hints of white pepper in
the finish. Only 450 bottles available. (750 ml.)
2001 Tinta Madeira Port:
Chocolate, plum and cherry dominate the nose.

Only 450 bottles available. (750 ml.)
2001 Touriga Port:
Drier on the finish, this port demonstrates blackberry and lighter
fruits in the mouth. Amazing aromas of raspberry, blueberry and blackberry provide this wine
with an engaging and enticing nose. Only 500 bottles available. (750 ml.)
