For over fifty years the Ficklin family has been producing superior, award winning Ports at their small adobe winery in Madera, California. The vineyard was planted with four Portuguese varieties in the 1940?s. Today these same vines, now old, gnarled, shy producers, yield intensely flavored fruit, making it one of the most unique vineyards in California. For decades the Ficklin family, beginning with David, and later his son Peter, has used traditional Portuguese methods to hand-craft their wines. Their ports rival those from Portugal in quality and have won more awards than many brands sold worldwide.
