| Ficklin Vineyards was the first winery in the United States to use four true Portuguese grape varieties to make a Port wine. These varieties were planted in 1945 and 1946 in southern Madera County, where ample sunshine and favorable soil combined with limited crop size produces grapes rich in flavor and complexity. Located in varietal blocks adjacent to the winery, they are harvested and crushed separately as they reach their maturity. |
